Seven Days of May

Behind the Book:

This book is based on real events that took place relatively recently – in May 2001. It tells the story of a high-profile crime that shocked not only the public of Almaty, but the entire country. A gang of armed criminals attacked a TuranalemBank cash-in-transit vehicle and stole a large sum of money.

As a result of a brutal shootout in the crowded city center, people died. The best detectives in the country were assigned to solve this audacious crime. A headquarters was formed to coordinate the work of law enforcement agencies. The operation was led by the man who co-authored this documentary account.

The book is written in a vivid and fast-paced style and includes illustrations. Almost all of the events described are grounded in real occurrences, though there is also room for artistic interpretation.

The book is intended for a broad audience.
